The contents of this series is a collection of material accumulated by Cockatoo Dockyard in support of the tendering for, construction of and the trialling of vessels. Also included in the series are drawings relating to proposed and constructed establishment buildings and equipment.
Some earlier items have been included, presumably for reference, such as the drawings and tables for SS CAPTAIN COOK (1893) and maps of Sydney Harbour and Port Phillip. Included are tables of calculations calibrations and some correspondence, as well as drawings.
A range of formats is represented; original drawings, flimsy paper tracings, blueprints, white paper prints, linen tracings, various types of photostats, and booklets.
Items are arranged in a numerical sequence which appears to have no date or content order and to have been allocated in retrospect. Some drawings with a post 1933 date have been misplaced into the series by the Dockyard.
Items range from 1 to 450 (with gaps), with the latest drawing in the transfer to Australian Archives being 448. A list is held (CRS C3648).
Similar drawings created during the period after the Commonwealth operated the Dockyard (ie after February 1933) are contained in CRS M2943.
