This series contains correspondence and administrative files maintained by Commonwealth Hostels Limited.The files deal largely with administrative matters concerning migrant hostels, including the establishment of hostels, relevant policy decisions, discussion regarding funding, relevant press statements and details of the general organisation within hostels, such as food and education services. Some drawings of hostel premises are included in the holdings. Several consignments contain personnel material relating to Commonwealth Hostels' staff; earlier files being top-numbered from the multiple number system, and later files controlled by single number with a 'HS' prefix. 

When consignment C3076/6 was assessed, it was identified as including files with an 'HS' (Hostel staff) prefix which have been retained, as staff employed at Migrant Hostels were often migrants themselves.
