This series consists of films, both black and white and colour, of the aftermath of the Darwin cyclone disaster in December 1974.

The Department of the Media acted as coordinator in assembling material relating to the disaster, including film from Film Australia, the Army, the ABC, and various commercial sources such as ATN 7.

In 1999 excerpts of these films were compiled as tapes for exhibition at the Darwin Expo. The consignment that comprises these tapes is held at the Darwin office

This series contains audiovisual formats. As audiovisual formats are either redundant or susceptible to deterioration, some items in this series have been copied to ensure their preservation.
