This series consists of copies of rolls of displaced persons travelling to Australia prepared by the Deputy for Operations, Migration Committee/ (by 1954) the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration and handed to the Commonwealth Migration Officer in the state of arrival.
The information for each passenger was varied according to year or port of origin but in the main covers such details as nominal roll no., name, International Refugee Status, Country of Citizenship or last habitual residence, religion, marital status, sex, date of birth, place and country of birth, occupation, certificate of identity and its place and date of issue. Late passenger rolls (under official migration (c.f. refugee schemes) give information on particular migration schemes (eg. Netherlands Government Agency Scheme) and any further subsidies allowed to migrants.
These passenger rolls were transferred to the Department of Social Services, New South Wales c.1972 from the Department of Immigration, New South Wales.
