History Prior/Subsequent to Transfer:
"Prior to transfer-" Subsequent to arrival and on expiry date, the documents were handed in to the Queensland Police or Customs and Excise and then passed to the Inspector, Investigation Branch, Attorney Generals Dept., Brisbane. They remained in his custody until 1947 when they were passed to Dept. of Immigration. "Subsequent to transfer-" Upon receipt an inventory of items was made and it was found that the documents, which were arranged in lexiographical order had missing gaps, e.g. A - Manevich and then a gap to Signorini. Documents for aliens with names beginning with X,Y and Z are also missing. Inquiries were made at Immigration and the only explanation given was that some years ago during a general "clean out" of the basement wherein the records were stored, inadvertently the missing documents must have been destroyed.

Identical surnames and initials as control symbols have caused some confusion. The control symbols for these will now have the full given name where it is different, and when identical will include year of birth and/or arrival date. This will facilitate the identification during the lending process.
