Description of series:
Consisting of:- Letters received, copies of letters sent, memos, returns, advices, financial estimates, works requisitions, completion reports, schedules of particulars, telegrams, quotations, extracts of minutes of A.W.C. meetings, works contracts, specifications, plans, drawings and other miscellaneous papers relating mainly to defence projects carried out in Queensland, during the Second World War. Type of work carried out includes, construction of aerodromes, military camps, hospitals, hostels and provision of associated services, building of wharves, dredging of harbours, installation of fuel storage tanks and pipe lines, boom defences and construction of roads.

 The series is classed by the Department as the 'Wartime Series', however certain work carried out was not directly related to defence, for example, the erection of new post offices, exchanges etc.
