Description of series:
Series BP145/1 consists of personal documents of Italian migrants applying for passage to Australia as part of the Italian-Australian Migration Agreement of 29 March 1951. Many of these migrants, who travelled to Australia on the ships Aurelia, Toscana and Flaminia, entered into employment in the cane fields in northern Queensland.
Items consist of medical examination reports and radiologists reports, various administrative forms, and proof of identity documents in Italian. The majority contain photographs of applicants.
A small number of items are the documents of Yugoslavian nationals who were resettled under the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration, arriving in Australia on the aircraft MIKLM.
The documents are arranged by vessel, and then alphabetically within each vessel.
