Description of series:These Passenger Cards are subsiduary to the Inwards Passenger Lists
for the above years and are used to obtain information not included
on the Passenger lists. The cards relate to British Subjects who disembarked in Adelaide and
includes Australians re-entering for the period 1948 to 1950. The
information on the cards includes: name of Ship, full name of
passenger, permanent address, country of last permanent residence,
occupation, date of birth, sex, place of birth, nationality,passport
details, date of disembarkation, Port of Disembarkation, conjugal
condition, racial origin, proposed length of stay, whether passage
money provided, intended address in Australia, personal description.
The cards are arranged alphabetically within the boxes but for
digitisation purposes the National Archives of Australia imposed
the control symbols of Entire Box 1 to Entire Box 15 to enable the
cards to be digitised at container level.
History Prior/Subsequent to Transfer:PTT-This Series of Inwards Passenger cards was transferred by
Department of Immigration to the S.A. State Archives in July, 1952.
By Authority of the State Libraries Board, the Officer-in-charge,
of the State Archives transferred these cards to the Commonwealth
