History Prior/Subsequent to Transfer:
PTT- This series comprises a single run of Merchant Shipping Registry Records discovered in the cellars beneath Customs House at Port Adelaide. Advice was sought from the Registrar of Customs & Excise and local Archives Office as to their value. It was decided that, as the records are pre-federation, they could have some research and historical value and the decision was that they be kept permanently. It is not known whether registers for these records exist or whether there are other records of the same sort still in existence. If related records are subsequently located they will be transferred to this office.
