Series note
The series deals with a range of functions for the South Australian Permenant Artillery and the Royal Australian Artillery. The records are predominately oriented to Fort Glanville and Fort Largs but include some policy and administrative aspects. Personnel and technical detail relating to the artillery are covered as are both world war useage of the forts. Both 10 and 120 Heavy Battry records are included. The series incorporates a number of printed items dealing with technical matters relating to the 64 pounder, 6 and 10 inch guns. A number of colored line drawings illustrate the mechanism of the guns and their ancillary machinery. Several black and white photographs show the forts and some of the personnel involved. Two  lists of personnel are of particular interest: thost that served in South Africa and those that attended the Coronation in London. A single number has been imposed on some items to facilitate identification and reference use.

History Prior/Subsequent to Transfer:
PTT- Records unearthed by Major A.B. Hastings (ret) whilst writing a history of Central Command. S.A. Handed over to Army Archives Officer transferred the records to Commonwealth Archives Office, S.A. Branch, for arrangement and list- ing. STT- Inventory of first eleven items written by Major A.B. Hastings- two copies obtained with the records- Items twelve to 27 listed by Commonwealth Archives Office.
