This series comprises microfiche received from the National Archives and Public Records Services of Papua New Guinea (NAPRS).
The original patrol reports are held by NAPRS.
It seems likely that, from 1 December 1973, the patrol reports were maintained by an unregistered agency, the Australian Office in Papua New Guinea until sometime in 1974.

The Menzies Library at the Australian National University holds two boxes of microfiche copies of Papua New Guinea patrol reports from the National Archives and Public Records Services of Papua New Guinea. These records relate to the provinces of Bougainville, Central Province, Chimbu, East Sepik District, East New Britain, Eastern Highlands, Gulf, Madang Province, Manus, Milne Bay, Morobe Province, New Ireland Province; Northern Province, Southern Highlands, West New Britain, West Sepik, Western Highlands and Western Province.
