This series contains files of correspondence between medical personnel in Vietnam and the Department of Defence in Australia regarding general medically related matters, advice and events, during the Vietnam conflict. There are no medical case files in this series.
 
The purpose of the records was to record events associated with Australian units, troops and equipment used and established both in South Vietnam and Australia to support the fighting troops in South Vietnam. Information ranges from the evacuation of casualties and the medical treatment given, to the capture of information from the Viet Cong.
 
The series was terminated with the withdrawal of Australian troops from Vietnam. It appears to have been a 'one off' series as no other similar series can be located as at July 1994.
