Summary heading
Function and purpose
This is a large rubber stamp used by Andrew Fisher, Prime Minister 1910-1913 and 1914-1915 or by the Department of the Prime Minister for convenience. It is possible that the stamp was also used when Andrew Fisher was the Treasurer between 1908 and 1910. Stamp duplicates hand writing and says 'Andrew Fisher Commonwealth Offices Melbourne'. The stamp was originally held in Melbourne but was transferred to Canberra with other material in 1927. It appears that the stamp was then kept in the charge of the Cabinet Officer until finally sent to Archives in 1963.
