This series consists of migration case files created by the Overseas Post in Rome for unassisted approved cases. The files are beige in colour and of standard size.
 
The files contain applications, correspondence between applicant, post and Central Office of CA 5988, Department of Immigration, Local Government and Ethnic Affairs (DILGEA). They are controlled by an alphabetical index card system.
 
The series was terminated at the end of December 1988 when a new system was created by DILGEA using a bar code label system. The overseas posts are now allocated a block of numbers for their files each year and the files are part of the universal file series CRS A8425.
