This is an artificial series made up of Commonwealth Investigation Service files transferred by
CA 1297, Australian Security Intelligence Organisation which could belong to any or all of the following
series: A367, A369, A402, A6119, A6122 and A6126. Some of these files could well be duplicates of files
in the related series. When time permits, arrangement and description work will be carried out to
return these records to their original places within the relevant series.
The files have had a single number system of control imposed on them by Australian Archives
and they have been arranged in groups by sub-heading with an alphabetical control symbol.
Australian Archives holds finding aids for these files in the form of CRS A9084, Correspondence
registers for CRS A367, known as 'C' registers, which until recently was part of AA1968/406 and has
now been converted; and CRS A9105, Subject list of files in A8911, Correspondence files of the
Commonwealth Investigation Service.
