These are files of the Administrator of the Federal Capital Territory, who was based in Canberra, dealing with Works. The Administrator from 8 Aug 1912 was Colonel D. Miller, Secretary of the Department of Home Affairs, Early in 1916 Colonel Miller was appointed Commandant of military campus in N.S.W. and the Minister for Home Affairs carried on the Administration of the Territory until 14 November 1916 when the Department of Home Affairs was abolished. The functions of the Department were divided between the newly created Departments of Home and Territories and Works and Railways. The administration of the Capital Territory was continued by CA601, Federal Capital Office, Melbourne, in the person of Walter Burley Griffin, Director of Federal Capital Design and Construction. It is probable tha the records of that agency succeed those of CA741, but little tangible evidence has been found as yet.
