FUNCTION AND CONTENT
This series is a collection of glass plate negatives, of both original negatives and copy negatives which display high contrast or high densities associated with low contrast.
The material has been poorly processed and stored, resulting in deterioration of the plates. They have been repackaged and stored following advise from the Australian Archives conserator. The negatives have been copied on to direct duplicating film by the Australian War Memorial and are held by the Marine Operations Division of the Department.
The plates contain a historic record of Australian coastal lighthouses from about 1917.
