Series note |
This series consists of individual case files dealing with
naturalisation, resettlement, deportation and applications for passports. There are also some general files (for example, reports, building project plans, policy on transit visas, etc).
Files dealing with naturalisation usually contain Form 6, Application for Naturalisation as an Australian Citizen; Form 7, Statutory Declaration by a Person Applying, or Intending to Apply, for Naturalisation as an Australian Citizen; and Form 8, Renunciation of Former Allegiance. These Forms are issued under the Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948-1967.
Also included in a naturalisation file may be any or all of the following: Report on Application for Naturalisation or Registration as an Australian Citizen, receipt of Certificate of Naturalisation, newspaper cuttings notifying the intention to apply for naturalisation, original passports and related correspondence.
Resettlement files contain an International Refugee Organisation (IRO) Resettlement Medical Examination Form for each member of the family and an IRO Resettlement Registration Form, and related correspondence.
The file number and name of the individual or subject appear on the front cover of each folder. Files are not always found in the correct alphabetical group.
All items in this series in the custody of Australian Archives as at December 1996 have been entered onto the item level database, ANGAM II.
