Function and purpose
This series is a card index to correspondence with various people and
organisations. The index is made up of seven sections divided as follows: (1)
the basic name index for persons (Aariens to Zywczak); (2) the organisations
name index which includes geographical locations AI Hire Company to ZYG Book
Binding Works); (3) a name index of ministers second Fraser Ministry (Aldermann
to Withers); (4) a Parliamentary name index which lists the names of
Commonwealth Members of Parliament, Senators and State Members (Abel to Young);
(5) the State Premiers and Treasurers name index; and (6) Departments and
authorities index (Aboriginal Affairs to Works) and (7) a name index to
correspondence with Ministers (Aderman to Young).
Sections 1,2,3, 4 and 7 are on 12x8cm cards; section 5 and 6 are on 20x12cm
cards. Because of the size of cards used Sections 5 and 6 were located after
the Subject index (CRS A3716).
When the Departments of Treasury II , and Finance were established in
December 1976 it was decided to microfiche the index, supply copies to both
departments and transfer the index cards to archival custody.
System of arrangement and control
A multiple number system has been imposed at box level to
control this series. The multiple number system consists of two numbers. The first
number in the sequence represents the category that index cards in the box
relate as list below. The second number relates to the box number with the
category.
