PAPER FILES AND DOCUMENTS
Series note
This series consists of files documenting pensions and other benefits provided for British merchant seamen who served in the 1939-1945 war, now resident in Australia.

The files contain papers on medical and pension benefits, hospital matters and liaison between Branches, Central Office, Tribunals and other countries. The prefix of the series was altered from 'BPSW' to 'PSW' in compliance with a revised ADP prefix schedule dated 25 June 1969. At that date all Repatriation state offices altered the prefix. The Central Office registry however did not receive an official
instruction and it was not until 22 February 1973 that the change in prefix was conducted. The single number sequence was not affected by this change in prefix.
