This series was the main correspondence file series of CA 1399, Headquarters, RAAF Contingent, (Vung Tau) [Vietnam], from January 1967 to February 1972. The records relate to the operations of the unit whilst based in Vung Tau. This series is organised in accordance with the uniform Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) filing system set out in DI(AF) ADMIN 7-1 (Defence Instruction). The primary number (identifying the policy subject) and the activity suffix are obtained from this instruction with subsequent numbers being allocated by the units at their own discretion. The suffixes, descriptions of divisions and ranges of primary numbers within each division are: AIR Administration, Organisation, Flying, [1-400] Training, Visits and Intelligence RAD Radio - specialist matters [401-500] ARM Armament - specialist matters [501-600] PH Photography - specialist matters [601-700] P1 Legal and discipline [701-900] P2 Personal Services [901-1200] P3 Personnel matters [1201-1800] MED Medical and Dental Services [1801-1900] ACCTS Pay and Equipment Accounting [1901-2100] EQUIP Supply and Provisioning etc [2101-2500] TECH Repair, modification of aircraft [2501-3100] engines etc WKS Barracks, Buildings, Landing Grounds [3101-3300] and works services This series has a multiple number range of 1/5/AIR to 2538/1/TECH (with gaps). This series was terminated in February 1972 with the disbandment of the RAAF Headquarters, RAAF Contingent. The major portion of this series was destroyed in situ under the guidance of a RAAF Board of Survey Team. The balance of the records were sent to Canberra in 1970 when the Australian Archives revoked the Board of Survey system and directed that future sentencing was to be undertaken using its disposal authorities and specific operational authorities when issued.

Consignments A2386T2 and A2386T3 were withdrawn permanently by the agency on 4 October 2012.
Consignment A2386T1 was withdrawn to the agency in September 2016.
