This series was the main correspondence file series of CA 1353, RAAF Headquarters, Australian Force Vietnam, from May 1966 to February 1972. The balance of the records were sent to Canberra in 1970 after the Australian Archives revoked the Board of Survey system and directed that future sentencing was to be undertaken using its disposal authorities and specific operational authorities when issued. A later and smaller transfer was made from the Department of Defence to Australian Archives, Canberra, in 1993.

Consignments A2049T2, A2049T3 and A2049T4 were withdrawn permanently by the agency on 4 October 2012.
Consignment A2049T1 was withdrawn to the agency in September 2016.
