The two volumes of press cuttings in this series relate to the Commonwealth Prime Ministers' Conference held in London in September 1966. It was the first such conference attended by Harold Edward Holt as Prime Minister.
The main issue discussed at the conference was Rhodesian independence and, by implication, the role of the United Kingdom Prime Minister (Harold Wilson) and the future of the British Commonwealth. Other subjects covered in the volumes include Vietnam, Zambia, Kashmir, the Ghurkas and the assassination of the South African Prime Minister (Dr Verwoerd).
The cuttings are entirely from London and other United Kingdom newspapers, including The Guardian, Daily Express, Sun, Evening Standard (London), The Scotsman, Newcastle Journal, Western Mail and Yorkshire Evening Post. They have been pasted up chronologically. It has not been established who was responsible for the scrapbooks which were transferred to archival custody in April 1968.
