This series consists of Western Australian Literary Copyright Files from 1889 to 1895.

The series consists of 1 box of items, arranged by single number from 1 to 17, and the items within it correspond to those in the register in series K17, Volume I Section 1, a copy of which is held in the Item Lists with this series. The files contain the registration forms and, in all but a few cases, the exhibit of each work lodged for copyright. The registration forms give the number; date; title; name of publisher and place of publication; name and place of abode of author if dramatic or musical production; name and place of abode of proprietor of copyright; first publication date or performance; and details of assignment or transfer. Many of the registrations have been made on handmade copies of the printed form. All files contain a Minute paper detailing information such as fees received; correspondence sent, to whom and the date, but no actual copies of the correspondence items themselves.

During a large project undertaken by A & D of the Copyright material, a listing of all items was prepared. It was discovered that the Western Australian Regional Office held at K17/1 the 'Register of Copyrights - Book and Fine Arts' [with Index]. A copy of the register was obtained and is held with the listing.
