This large volume represents Filipino press coverage of the Seven Nation Summit Conference held in Manila from 24-25 October 1966. The Summit was hosted by President Ferdinand E Marcos of The Philippines and aimed at trying to end the Vietnam War. Leaders of the seven countries attending were President Lyndon B Johnson (USA), Harold Holt (Australia), Keith Holyoake (New Zealand), Park Chung Hee (South Korea), Nguyen Cao Ky (South Vietnam), Thanom Kittikachorn (Thailand) and Marcos. Much of the media attention focused on President Johnson.
Two-thirds of the volume covers the lead up to the Summit, the remaining one-third is taken up by entertainment of the leaders' wives, the Summit itself and its immediate aftermath. The cuttings (including cartoons) are from the main English-language Philippines newspapers, including The Philippines Herald, Manila Bulletin, Manila Chronicle, Manila Times and New Evening News, and the Tagalog (Filipino national language) newspaper Taliba. The volume was compiled by the Philippine Press Clipping Bureau. It was received by Holt's Press Secretary, Tony Eggleton, in early March 1967, and transferred to the National Archives in December that year.
