This series consists of small (13 x 8cm) buff-coloured cards held in 98 no.3 archives containers. The cards are used as control records for the naturalization/citizenship files of the Department. There is provision on each card for the following entries: File number, Date of letter, Address, Subject, Date of birth, Date of arrival and Name of vessel, Nationality. Not all this information is noted on every
card.
The Department of Immigration, Local Government and Ethnic Affairs currently has a Citizenship Database which includes entries for all grantings of citizenship from 1904 to the present day (1989). The database includes the following information: Given names, Surname, Date of Birth, Country of Birth, Address, Date of Arrival, Country Arrived From, and File Number. This database duplicates information
held in CRS A1652. Microfiche copies of the whole database are produced regularly.
The range for each box in this series in the custody of Australian Archives as at January, 1998 has been entered onto the item level database, ANGAM II. |
