Function and purpose

This series consists of files containing or relating to applications for entry visas to Australia. In some instances the applicant may have only been coming into Australia as tourists, visiting for a short period on their way somewhere else and entering Australia as business visitors and taking up work. There are also applications by people wishing to extend their stay in Australia. In most cases the applicant is also bring a wife and/or children with them.

All items in the custody of the National Archives of Australia as at October 2002 have been entered onto the item level database.

Series history

This series was worked on by the National Archives of Australia in September and October 2002. Consignments 3 and 4 were entered at this time. It was decided upon investigating consignment 7 that it was not the same as the other consignment in this series. Consignment 7 was converted into CRS A12500 (Transfer Job Number: 2002/5125092).
