Function and purpose
This series consists of applications for immigration from
professional persons of non-British backgrounds. The applications include
the application form (ES35A) and related papers such as photocopies of degrees,
diplomas and letters of accreditation from various companies or firms and any
correspondence entered into. There are also photographs of the applicant. The
forms record name, date and place of birth, educational attainments, languages
spoken and employment record.
There are no indications on the papers if these applications
were successful or not and no more than basic information is included on family
members.
The applications are from a variety of nationalities
including Italians, Swiss, Germans, Belgians, Egyptians and Stateless persons.
Physical characteristics
Limited numbers of loose papers and a photograph of
the applicant.
System of arrangement and control
Sorted into lexicographical order prior to transfer to
archival custody.
Relationships with other records
These records were originally sorted in with professional
applicants of British descent but were removed and serialised in December
2002.
Finding aids
All items in archival custody, as at December 2002, have
been entered onto the National Archives of Australia item level database.
Series history
Transferred to archival custody on 24 September 1969 as part
of AA1969/343. See archives file 1966/155. Converted to this series in December
2002.
