FUNCTION AND CONTENT
This series consists of files raised by the Cabinet Secretariat to house Cabinet and associated records of the Keating Administration (20.12.91 - 11.3.96).
A new series of Cabinet files commences with each change of Government or, in later years, with a change of Prime Minister (eg this Keating Administration).
The file numbers in each series contain a unique prefix. A typical file in this series will contain copies of Cabinet submissions or Cabinet memoranda and occasionally associated reports, departmental briefs, copies of Cabinet/Cabinet committee minutes, copies of departmental briefs and Cabinet decisions.
Files may also include correspondence, including Ministerial, departmental and internal correspondence.
Security classifications range from Cabinet-in-confidence to Top Secret.

Physical Characteristics
There may be more than one part to a file.
The front cover is labelled 'CABINET FILE' in black print, with 'CABINET-IN-CONFIDENCE' in white print.
The file number and part number are located on the top, right-hand corner of the file cover.
