Descriptive note

In correspondence on this file, Sir Douglas Mawson indicated that he was forwarding photographs of various ceremonies at which he made proclamations of sovereignty over Antarctic territories. These photographs are not on this file, but a set captioned by Mawson himself is contained in CRS A4311 - 'Cumpston Collection' of documents relating to the history of Australian foreign policy (item 365/9/3 – item barcode 004944855). 

Exhibition Display: Folio [7] was on display in ‘Traversing Antarctica – the Australian Experience’ from December 2011 to the September 2012 at both TMAG and NAA and WAMM venues and. A facsimile of this folio was on display at all other venues other than WAMM and SAM.
