Title |
Photographic negative - Cobb and Co coach outside premises of Hunter and Company, Yuleba. Arthur Senyard, Manager of the Cobb and Co depot at Yuleba, is at the left of the photo, standing near the right side 'land' horse. Olive Lavercombe is the girl at the left of the photo, in background, at the corner of the Cobb and Co store. Alf Jensen is the coach driver. He died from pneumonia approximately three years after photograph taken, as a result of driving during a long wet spell. He left a young widow and family. Hugh Davedson is the short man in suit at rear of coach. He was a local itinerant worker not connected with Cobb and Co. On the right side of the photo is Sergeant Joyce, the Yuleba Police Sergeant. Note that the coach appears to be carrying the full load of 14 passengers (3 rows of 4 people inside and another on the 'box' seat with the driver). On top are mail bags, cane mail baskets and some luggage. The springs along the side consisted of 10 leather straps. |
